Division of Labor

Black and white image of a scale to weigh the weight of the burden unequal love forces us to carry.

I am not responsible…

I am not responsible for…

    your failed relationships

 I am not responsible for…

your inability to sit with the man in the mirror

 I am not responsible for…

your perceived powerlessness that forces you to wear your self-hate like armor

I am not responsible for making myself small so you can feel secure

I am not responsible for providing all the love your parents never gave you

I am not responsible for the hurt you have because my boundaries clash with your perceived entitlements

I am not responsible for holding your grief

I am not responsible for being your emotional punching bag

I am not responsible for holding you accountable

If a man is supposed to lead, why is the only place you lead to chaos?

If a man is supposed to protect, why are you only capable of protecting your ego?

If a man is supposed to provide, why are you only providing trauma?

Is this what it means to be a man? To cosplay as a leader, provider, and protector while using aggression as your makeup?

Are you manly enough, yet?

Has your ego been satiated?

Do you have your daddy's love and approval yet?

Or do you still believe it's my responsibility to heal the broken parts of you while you fight me for having the audacity to know my own damn worth?
